Colour, Greyscale or both
Sometimes a photo is captured with very little colour information. It appears monochromatic but is a full colour image. I captured such an image during the foggy days recently.
The ferris wheel on Hastings sea front.
I could have made it black and white but decided to retain the bluish cast caused by the fog.
There are times when there are many colours but they washed out, like this one taken of the shingle trucks at Rye Harbour.
The limited tonality caused by fog and dust kicked up by the trucks give this image a painterly quality. Almost sci-fi concept.
This next image of Hastings seafront I made greyscale in post production, or most of it anyway. This is commonly refered to as selective colour photography.
I do do it. Iām undecided on whether I should.
I think it works for this one.
Not sure about this one.
